Repost | You’re Invited to Sunday Family Dinner….. BYOC (Bring Your Own Containers)
I remember the days when I went to Sunday dinner at either my mom’s or another relative’s house and we would just chill out, catch up and relax with each other. Then the moment comes when the host would say “please feel free to take leftovers”. At this point, you’re probably thinking “awesome I don’t have to cook tomorrow” until you realize that the host has either run out of plastic food containers or she calls you out on never returning her containers from the last gathering. I bet we have all been there because it’s happened to me. You probably resorted to using ziplock bags, a paper plate wrapped in aluminum foil or you ultimately decided to say nevermind there’s always next time. I am guessing that many of you can relate.
Well I have a quick and inexpensive idea to this dilemma! Warning: it will require a trip to Dollar Tree. Now I can only speak for myself, but I love going to Dollar Tree. I don’t care if I go in there with a budget of $10, I am going to make sure that I buy everything on my list and probably a few things that I know that I do not need. I bet you just laughed out loud because you’re the same way. On the plus side, you can justify your purchase because you just found the perfect containers to bring the next time you are invited to someone’s house.
You can fill them up, bring them home, wash them, put them in a shopping bag and leave them in your car so that you’ll always be prepared. The best part is that after just a few times of reheating the food, you can always throw them away and buy new ones. Why? Let’s be honest, they’re containers from the dollar store and not as long lasting as the name brand but who cares because they’re only $1! I am cracking up while I am writing this post.
So the next time you’re out and about, don’t forget to stop at your local Dollar Tree and stock up. This is the perfect time to buy some because the holidays are coming and you will definitely want to be prepared if you’re going to someone else’s house for the festivities. Tip: Share this post with your friends and family so that they too can be prepared when it’s your turn to host the family dinner. You can thank me later.
